Felicity Weal aka @weal_chair

‘I am a 24yrold Para-dressage rider from Cowra in NSW after a spinal cord injury had paralysed me below the waist in 2017. Previously, I was always around horses and grew up competing on ponies my mum had bred; and soon established my own boutique stud, Meraki Ridge Australian Stockhorses. After the injury, my passion was to ride again so after having my son in 2019, I made it a personal goal. Early 2020, we found Barnetts Fascinator aka "Fancy", a 3yrold Heritage Stockhorse to be the perfect fit. From there we have taken off together and are competing against able bodied riders. My short term goals are to compete in a Para graded test (once Fancy is old enough) and to compete in a test with canter (my para grade is walk and trot only). Long term goals are to compete at an FEI level and to compete at a national level. Juggling my riding career, an 18month old boy, a stud and showing young horses whilst being a paraplegic is a full time job but I love it and would not change a damn thing.
